Why Trash Pandas Hate Big Daddy Dumpsters

Recently our office was been getting a lot of complaints that were hard for us to understand. Literally hard to understand. The messages were a series of squeaks and growls. They were sometimes very short, and other times they filled our entire answering machine queue.

After weeks of this, we knew we had to get to the bottom of the phenomenon, so we took a tape to a local animal expert at the Cincinnati Zoo.

As she reviewed the tape, she created a list of possible suspects, and had it narrowed down to three or four finalists. Finally she asked, “What does your company do again?”

When we explained that we provided the area’s strongest and most reliable dumpsters for residential or industrial purposes, she nodded knowingly.

“You have yourself some angry raccoons.”

Raccoons are trash pandas

Typically raccoons don’t care much about what you call them. Some people call them trash bandits because of the markings on their faces that make them look like they have tied a mask over their eyes.

Other people just call them vermin, because they can congregate around people and even thrive living off our waste products. These people assert that the movie “Over the Hedge” is a documentary, and that it accurately portrays the fact that it is nearly impossible to defeat a raccoon’s effort to get into your trash.

It was certainly a loving fan of raccoons that first called them “trash pandas.” For unlike other trash-eating animals like possums and rats, the markings and long fur on raccoons makes them appear cuddly and approachable, and in many ways like a small panda.

But why were the trash pandas pranking our office?

Of course, even though the specialist we contacted was able to identify the sounds as coming from raccoons, no one actually “speaks” raccoonese. Not even at the zoo.

We thought we would be left to speculate until recently Big Daddy Dumpsters actually hired a raccoon to appear in our ads. After a long day of shooting … err, he prefers if we say filming … our commercials, he opened up at the charcuterie table.

“Have you ever tried climbing into a Big Daddy Dumpster?” He didn’t wait for an answer before he continued. “Imagine if you were less than a foot tall. It’s impossible. You can’t eat like that. You can’t LIVE like that.”

So there you have it, raccoons hate Big Daddy Dumpsters because they are critter-proof.

I Need a Big Dumpster

Do you ever say to yourself, “I need a big dumpster?”

Maybe you’re looking at a large mess you have to clean up, or you are planning a construction or development project that is going to make more trash than your curbside service can handle.

If you need a big dumpster, you should turn to the bid daddy of dumpsters: Big Daddy Dumpsters.

Our smallest dumpsters are big dumpsters

At Big Daddy Dumpster, we start at “big dumpster” and go up from there.

Our smallest dumpster is a “10-yard” dumpster. And it’s a big dumpster. Really big.

Measuring 8 feet wide and 12 feet long and 3 feet deep, the 10-yard dumpster holds 10 cubic yards of debris or other approved waste.

That’s enough for a household project like a basement cleanout or renovation, or drywall work in the attic.

Many home owners who take on projects around the house find this the perfect size for their project. And with new, convenient 3-day rentals, this is perfect for the 3-day weekend patio teardown and rebuild in your future.

Our medium dumpsters are big dumpsters

Also, our medium dumpsters are pretty big dumpsters too.

Measuring 8 feet wide and 14 feet long and 4 feet deep, the 15-yard dumpster holds 15 cubic yards of whatever you need hauled away from your worksite.

Perfect for medium-sized projects that involve contractors or multiple workers, the medium dumpster can be placed in a convenient location and left for longer periods of time, depending on the scope of the work to be done.

Are you redoing your roof? Do you have a multi-room project on tap? This is the perfect solution for your big dumpster needs.

Our big dumpsters are big daddy dumpsters

Our big dumpsters are not for the casual work-around-the-house sort of handyman or woman.

Instead, the biggest dumpsters are when you have a major project in front of you. Are you flipping a broken down house and need to gut the whole thing? Are you in charge of a construction site that is throwing off construction waste every work day for weeks at a time?

You need a serious, big daddy dumpster.

Measuring 8 feet wide and 14 feet long and 5.5 feet deep, the 20-yard dumpster swallows an amazing 20 cubic yards of refuse.

Set up a schedule to have it regularly replaced as you build a skyscraper or a stadium.

We can handle any job, no matter how big.

Spring Is Here! Organize a Life-Changing Garage Clean-out Day for Your Neighborhood

We have all been there. We have accumulated junk in our garage and basement for a couple of years, and we find ourselves at the awkward spot between too much to throw in the trash, but not enough to justify renting a dumpster.

Last year the solution was easy: you closed the door on the garage and ignored it for another year. Good for you – you found some time! But you did not solve the problem.

Well this year what if you try a different strategy?

This year, go together with your neighbors to organize a neighborhood clean-out day, and utilize the Big Daddy Dumpster three-day rental option. This will create a targeted, specific window of time for getting the work done, making it easier and more fun.

Garage clean-out challenges

There are lots of challenges involved in cleaning out your garage.

First, some of the things in your garage don’t belong in a dumpster. For instance, you should not put flammable liquids or biohazards in the dumpster, and you likely have a few gallons or more of these items in the back corner, over there beneath the shovels.

Second, some of the things you need to throw away are too heavy or too bulky to include in your regular trash. You can’t put that old lawnmower frame in the trash can. You need a little more space.

Third, some of the things you need to lift or move are pretty heavy.  that old door you removed in the basement remodel? You can probably move it yourself, but do you want to risk your back again?

These and other similar problems are solved by having a neighborhood garage clean out day.

A neighborhood garage clean-out day solves these problems

First, the problem of hazardous items.

It feels a little wasteful to carry one or two gallons of expired paint thinner and paint to the appropriate county drop-off location. But if you join together with your neighbors, suddenly you find that you have a small truckload. Now one person, or maybe two of you, are taking the trip for the whole neighborhood. Now you are building friendships, helping others out, and really building the spirit of community.

Second, bulky items. When you go together with your neighbors to split the expense of a dumpster, you help everyone dispose of all their bulky items at once.

Third, heavy items. Good news, everyone is working outside this weekend. And you neighbors who just lifted one heavy thing and threw it in the dumpster will be glad to help you with throwing something else in. That’s just the energy of a good, productive day.

Transform your community this summer with a three-day rental from Big Daddy Dumpsters for a neighborhood garage clean-out day!

Don’t leave your next major project up to chance. Work with a trusted southern Ohio dumpster rental company. Work with Big Daddy Dumpsters.

Construction dumpster rental solutions

You may be entering the construction with an idea of the amount of debris you’ll create each week, or you may not. You likely have a budget line for solving this problem throughout the construction time frame.

Working with a qualified and experienced local waste management company will allow you the convenience and flexibility you need to hit your deadlines and your budget.

First, you will need some flexibility in the number and size of the dumpsters available. Big Daddy Dumpsters offer three sizes of dumpsters to meet your situation perfectly. The 10 cubic yard, 15 cubic yard, and 20 cubic yard options give you the flexibility and capacity to address the biggest construction needs, while right-sizing to address slow weeks and the needs of your construction site footprint.

Dumpster Rental Prices

When you are planning a significant building or renovation project, you want to carefully consider all of the costs involved.

These costs include, but are not limited to, the materials you will need, the tools you will rent or purchase, and the labor costs if you are hiring help. Of course, even if it is just you and a few friends who are demolishing an old garage, there are the expenses of pizza and beer, or White Claw, depending on your friends.

There is one last expense to consider as well.

You may have initially thought that your project could end up on the curb, in garbage bags or a handful of rolling trash cans borrowed from neighbors. But you’re wrong.

Most curbside waste companies have strict limits on what you can take to the curb and what they will haul away on trash day.

Rumpke limits garbage day haul

Rumpke, Southwest Ohio’s largest garbage removal agency, has strict rules for what it can and can’t take away.

This includes rules for how much they will haul away from your job site or home on garbage day. Their rules cap hauling at six large, 32 gallon bins each garbage day.

Sure, that’s a lot of garbage! Most average families fill one of these a week. Some especially active families who eat out a lot more than others might need a second of these containers after a particularly busy week.

But still, that is a lot of garbage. And your project might call for this amount of waste removal, raising a second question. Where would you get six of these containers?

This means that in order to reach the maximum, you would have to invest in a few more cans than you already have, then keep and store them forever afterwards. Most people will find it easier to rent a dumpster instead.

A ten yard rolloff dumpster, our most common rental type, holds ten times as much as you can put curbside with Rumpke. This means that one curbside roller saves you from having to plan how to fill up and set out 6 bins each week for ten weeks.

Ten weeks of maximum garbage hauling fits in our smallest bin.

So Big Daddy Dumpsters does not just save you money, Big Daddy Dumpsters saves you that most precious commodity: time.

Check out Big Daddy Dumpster prices versus curbside

Here are the equivalent costs and sizes for the intrepid and determined do-it-yourselfer, assuming you start with one 32 gallon bin provided by Rumpke.

10 cubic yards = 5 x 32 gallon bins = $125 dollars  / 10 weeks

15 cubic yards = 5 x 32 gallon bins = $125 / 15 weeks

20 cubic yards = 5 x 32 gallon bins = $125 / 20 weeks

Can you imagine spreading your project out over several months, when you could have the convenience of getting a dumpster delivered, filled up, and hauled away in a matter of days?

We can’t either. Call today!

Rent A Dumpster Near Me

You or your company has a big project coming up. Maybe it’s a remodel or a demolition. Maybe it’s a building project.

You need a dumpster. Where to look?

1-800-Got-Junk?

1-800-Got-Junk is a national leader in dumpster and bag rental. They are able to be everywhere because they are a company that sells their brand as a franchise. Local owner-operators pay to use their branding and get their references, then do the work under their “Got Junk?” branding.

The Got Junk? brand received a lot of national attention for their involvement with the popular series Hoarders. In that series, psychologists and waste removal companies teamed up with family members to  address serious hoarding in the home of a loved one. the show Android a popular run, earning the got Junk brand a lot of publicity. while the company can supply labor, it cannot apply the kind of mental help that is necessary to get someone over clinical hoarding.

Hopefully that’s not what you need for your project!

You can click here to go to their website.

Waste Management

One of the nation’s largest dumpster and waste removal companies, their familiar green and yellow W & M logo can be seen almost everywhere in the United States. If you have ever seen a large green dumpster outside of a construction site, it was likely theirs.

Their national model seems attractive, but the moving company Move.org recently rated them 4 stars (out of 5) because of their “middle-of-the-road customer reviews.”

As is common with many dumpster rental companies, they are focused on providing you the last part of the puzzle – junk removal. You will need to apply the elbow grease to get the work done and get the debris out to the dumpster yourself.

Why Rent a Dumpster?

You have seen the ads. A company promises to bring a huge dumpster and place it in front of your property for some amount of time. The plan is that you will easily haul away trash from a major project.

“Why would I do that?” you asked yourself. “That’s got to hurt my curb value.”

Perhaps you’ve wondered if making phone calls and paying for the delivery is worth it at all.

But let’s look at the alternatives.

Are There Alternatives to a Dumpster?

You could get a dumpster, but why? You could just purchase several boxes of large garbage bags.

Let’s walk through this process.

You fill one bag, then another. You still have to move it someplace. If you’re doing it the day before trash day, great! You can just haul it to the curb. However, many municipalities Have limits on how much trash they will pick up at an individual household.

Now you have become a small business manager, determining how much trash to put out … and where to store the rest of it for the next week.

Most of us store our trash in the back or side of the house.  So now you are in the business of moving your trash twice.

Ordering a dumpster puts YOU in charge of the schedule.

Garbage Bags are Not the Answer

Besides for many types of garbage, bags aren’t the answer. Table parts, furniture legs, lumber, and more all require separate handling.

The easiest way to handle this is the heart directly outside as you’re taking it apart and heave it in the dumpster.  You don’t have to disassemble anything. Just throw and go.

This can save countless hours fussing and struggling to break down pre-built furniture.

Additionally, with heavy items like old paint or wet and moldy drywall, you will use up dozens of bags and getting it all out to the curb. With a dumpster you can fill and dump buckets or other more solid containers. This makes it less likely that you will rip a bag and have to re-bag it, or that you will get a cut from sharp edges or screws and nails.

So renting a large dumpster from Big Daddy Dumpsters can save you time, energy, and money, and maybe keep you safer from cuts and scrapes.

The only real question is, why haven’t you called to schedule yours yet? Our friendly operators are standing by to take your call and schedule your dumpster today.

When Is It Time to Replace My Mattress?

Americans have a love / hate relationship with our mattresses. We spend almost ⅓ of our time with them, and if it goes well, we have no memory of the experience.

Mattresses can be expensive investments, or cheap afterthoughts.

With this much time and money invested in finding the right mattress, when it starts to go, you want to carefully evaluate your options.

Here are signs that you need to throw your mattress away.

  1. It sags. There’s that sweet spot where you and your loved one cuddle, or you burrow in each night. You can find it easily because you sort of “roll in.” That sag, however, indicates that your support and ability to move around at night are diminished. Toss it.

  1. It has lumps and bumps. Lumps and bumps and buttons are signs of broken springs or misplaced foam and support. In addition to being a sign of wear and tear, they work against your good night’s sleep. Toss it.

  1. It is creaky, or squeaky. First, check if the creak or squeak is coming from your mattress or your box springs. Often the springs will be the culprit, and they should be replaced. If it is the mattress making the noise, but it’s not keeping you up, you can keep it a little while longer. But soon it will be time to toss it.

  1. Stains with odors. Pets, children, and a wide range of non-sleeping activities can leave your mattress stained. You can change the sheets and cover that up – you’re probably not hosting dinner parties on the bed anyway … right? But odors? If a quick spray with an over-the-counter cleaner doesn’t do the trick, toss the mattress.

  1. Bugs, especially bed bugs. No discussion here. Toss it. But what about …? No. Toss it.

  1. Aches and pains from sleeping. Your mattress and a night’s sleep should leave you feeling fit and rested, not tired and tested. If your mattress is the cause of your aches and pains, there is nothing to be done. Toss it.

Often your mattress and your box springs are a matched set. They don’t have to be, but a good match is an important thing to consider.

If you’ve got two large items to throw away, maybe it is time to consider renting a dumpster and turning this into a project?
